Dead Prez, who opened for Dedrick Flynn, had an inspiring and amazing performance. The music was off the hook! Their DJ Mike Flow had an awesome rapport and was also really talented. I think they pretty organically tailored the show to the Seattle audience, most of whom didn't seem to know them or their background. So fun, loved them.
On the other hand, Dedrick would've been just as lovable, if not more, if she didn't make us wait almost 2.5 hours after Dead Prez. Doors opened at 7, and she didn't get on stage till 11:33 pm on a Sunday night all-ages show. She was really intensely energetic, almost spastic, trying to do her sound check in between singing, and didn't get in her zone for another couple of songs. Then had moments of brilliance and won most of us over again. Her group was so great. I would've liked closer to 2 hours. Again, would've been better if we didn't just finish booing for the wait.
